9 March 2010 - Rowner Renewal Begins Compulsory Purchase Procedures

Following the start of the regeneration of Rowner Gosport Borough Council, a member of the Rowner Renewal Partnership has started the process for making the Compulsory Purchase Order for the multi-million pound regeneration project.

At a meeting on 8 March 2010 Gosport Borough Council unanimously agreed to make the Compulsory Purchase Order to ensure the delivery of this important regeneration project. The Council has now written to owners and occupiers of property within the project area and these owners and occupiers are required to confirm who has an interest in their property.

The Partnership recognizes that this could be a stressful time for residents. Residents recently received a letter from Portsmouth Housing Association who will continue to negotiate and buy properties by agreement. Portsmouth Housing Association currently owns 334 of the 506 homes (66%). Any resident who requires further information or wishes to discuss what happens next, should contact Portsmouth Housing Association on the Rowner Renewal Enquiry Line: 08450 343317.

Work has now begun on Phase One at the lower end of Howe Road. A detailed planning application for Phase Two which includes the new Tesco supermarket and other retail units will be submitted later in the year.
