23 January 2012 - Rowner’s Alver Village wins its first award

The Rowner Renewal Partnership is celebrating its first award success after the Alver Village development received a prestigious LABC Building Excellence Award.
Taylor Wimpey was highly commended in the category for ‘Developer of the Year 51+ Units’, after a judging panel of industry experts recognised the house builders’ high standards in quality of design and build for its development in Rowner, Gosport.
Sarah Pasco, regional sales director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, comments: “It’s a real honour to receive this award and we’re absolutely thrilled that Alver Village has received this recognition. The stunning range of award-winning homes on offer replicates the quality and design that Taylor Wimpey is renowned for and it is hardly surprising that Alver Village has been so popular. In fact the interest and sales shown for Rowner is outstripping our other sales sites in the region.”
Alver Village is the marketing name for the first phase of the Rowner Renewal regeneration. The Rowner Renewal Partnership (whose members include First Wessex, Gosport Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Homes and Communities Agency and Taylor Wimpey) was formed in 2007 and has worked closely to ensure the transformation of the centre of Rowner. It is a multi-phased redevelopment and work is expected to be complete in 2017.
A similar success story is shown by First Wessex for their shared ownership homes and apartments within Alver Village. Nadine Bates, Senior Sales and Marketing Coordinator says: “We have a small number of shared ownership apartments in Alver Village and have already sold half of these with our residents now settled in. The remaining eight units have been marketed and we are very pleased with the interest shown in Rowner.”
The new community now includes First Wessex rental residents, shared ownership residents and private sales. There will be 200 new homes there as early as this summer. Taylor Wimpey currently has available one and two bedroom apartments from £90,000 and a range of three and four bedroom houses with prices starting from just £167,000. Rowner Renewal’s regeneration continues as work on the second very important phase has already begun. This includes new apartments, a residential tower, and the Tesco supermarket and smaller retail units which will bring much needed jobs as well as new homes to the area.
Simon Petar Corporate and Legal Affairs at Tesco says: “Together with the local Job Centre Plus, we are delighted that we will be offering employment opportunities to the local people of Rowner and the surrounding areas."
The new store is set to open its doors in Spring 2013.
Rowner Renewal Partnership spokesperson Hazel Warwick, Deputy Chief Executive for First Wessex says: “These are truly exciting times for Rowner We are witnessing something very special in its transformation. We are all absolutely delighted at the interest shown across the region for our new homes. This year is an important milestone as the Partnership will be able to deliver its promise of many new jobs to the area not just new homes.”
