4 October 2007 - Rowner Renewal Partnership Welcomes Gosport Borough Council Decision

The Rowner Renewal partnership, comprising English Partnerships, Gosport Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth Housing Association and Taylor Wimpey, today (October 4) welcomed the decision by Gosport Borough Council to support the £140m regeneration project planned for Rowner.

Speaking on behalf of the Partnership, John Butler, Project Director, commented:

“This decision presents the Rowner Renewal Partnership with a wonderful opportunity to regenerate Rowner on behalf of the local community.

“Now we begin the very important process of consulting with local people, beginning on 11 October with a formal launch of our proposals and public consultation programme. We look forward to engaging with all members of the community on this Project to help shape the future for Rowner.”

Letters have been hand delivered to residents in Rowner. The Partnership will be meeting individually with those residents whose homes will need to be redeveloped for the Project.

Subject to approval under the Gosport Common Housing Register Policy, our aim is that those who want to stay on the estate are able to do so; those who do not will be offered rehousing elsewhere in the Borough and owner-occupiers can transfer their equity to a new home on the estate, if they wish.

The Rowner Enquiry Line is open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
