18 February 2010 - Rowner Winners Celebrate Poster Success

Taylor Wimpey, the construction partner in The Rowner Renewal Partnership, presented five local children with their framed winning poster entries and Argos gift cards. The Rowner Renewal Site Safety Poster Competition was launched in December during site safety awareness talks at Siskin Infant School, Siskin Junior School and The Youthy in Rowner.

Kieran Walker, Rowner’s Project Manager for Taylor Wimpey explains:
“It is essential that the local children know about the dangers around building sites. At the talks, we showed the children the protective clothing we have to wear to stay safe on site and explained the dangers when working with heavy machinery, chemicals, materials and moving equipment. We also asked the children to tell an adult if they see someone who shouldn’t be there on a building site and get them to phone our number or the police.”

To reinforce the safety stay safe campaign, The Rowner Renewal Partnership organised a Site Safety Poster Competition for the three age categories in Rowner:

Siskin Infants (age 3-7):
The winner of this category was Frances Weston (6) and the Runner Up was Dylan Corbin (5). Both are seen here with their winning entries together with their head teacher Rose Smith and Kieran Walker.
Siskin Junior (age 7-11):
The winner of this category was Ashleigh Charrington (10) and the Runner Up Tegan Oliver (8) Both are seen here with their winning entries together with their head teacher Rebecca Kingsland and Kieran Walker
The Youthy (age 12-16):
There was only one winner in this category and Ayesha McLelland (15) was congratulated by Kieran Walker on her winning computer aided design poster.

All the winning designs will be printed in large format and mounted onto The Rowner Renewal Partnership site hoardings when work begins shortly. In addition the winner from each of the three age groups received a £50 Argos gift card and the runner ups received a £25 Argos gift card.
